Christmas in Guatemala 101 eBook Review

I've decided to start the Christmas festivities early this year! Traditionally, I'll wait until the first of December to erect the Christmas tree, put on the music, and decorate.  However, this is our first year being a family of three and the whole year's gone by way too fast. Why not let the sporit of Christmas last a little longer?

I had the pleasure of reviewing Christmas in Guatemala 101 by Benjamin Barnett.

Let me preface this review by saying that I knew pretty much nothing about Guatemalan culture, let alone information about Christmas festivities, prior to reading this book.

With that said, the wealth of information that the book contained was insightful! Here's a note from the author:

"This Christmas in Guatemala 101 ebook (available in print, pdf, and Kindle format) is a comprehensive guide from an insider's point of view, sharing my experiences and those of friends and acquaintances as told to me.
In addition, this book contains step-by-step Guatemala Christmas recipes, instructions on how to make Guatemalan Christmas ornaments, and fun Christmas activities for kids, as well."

The book starts out with background information on Guatemalan culture, and then moves on to Christmas (or Navidad) festivities, food, and fun.

Some of the recipes included in the book sound simply amazing! (You all should know by now that I love me some good eats!)  Here are a few of my favorites:
  • Traditional Tamales
  • Dobladas
  • Chile Rellenos (yum!)
Also included are simple crafts and decorations to make in Guatemalan style. I can't wait to make a few with my little one! (Ok, so it'll be more like ME making them while he watches, but still...)
