Go Green with ReUsies Snack and Sandwich Bags! {Review + Giveaway}

  This year, why not go a little greener with your stocking stuffers and gifts? ReUsies fabric sandwich and snack bags can help!

  ReUsies is a line of reusable snack and sandwich bags created by a couple of moms in Seattle on a mission to eliminate plastic bag waste. In doing so, they not only found their target market but also an audience that didn't want possibly toxic plastic bags contaminating the food they eat everyday. Either way, ReUsies are a perfect addition to any family's lifestyle!

  If you think about it, when sending your kids with lunch you'll typically use 1-3 plastic baggies for their sandwich and sides (veggies, fruit, cookies, etc.) Multiply that times the amount of days in a school year and you've practically made your own mini landfill of plastic trash! If you send your hubby to work with lunch also, double that amount. Yikes! Thankfully ReUsies has come up with a great alternative.

  ReUsies are made from 100% cotton with a leak-resistant nylon lining, and fold over to close with a hook and loop Velcro-type closure that's easy for kids to use. They come in two sizes:
  • Snack: approximately 6" by 5", which will fit most snacks, veggies, and fruit slices. This size is also perfect for a half sandwich or a sandwich with the crusts cut off, kid-style.
  • Sandwich: approximately 7.5" by 6", which will hold most larger breads for a sandwich, a bagel, or larger portions of sides and snacks.
  I received a 2-pack in the Whooo's Looking pink owl print, one of each size. The first thing that caught my eye was the quality stitching around the sides of the bag, it's a must! Since these bags are machine-washable (yay!) they need to be able to withstand the beating that the washer doles out. No problem! Not only are they machine washer and dryer safe, but they can also be cleaned in the dishwasher or by hand. Another feature I adore...as further leak/slippage protection each bag actually folds over itself to close. (ie- the flap crease is lower on the bag, so that no snacks will trickle out of the corners.)

Plenty of room inside, and this is the smaller size!
  As you can see, even the smaller of the two has plenty of room! We use ours for apple slices, baby carrots, pretzels, and the occasional pumpkin chocolate chip cookie. When Jace starts school in a few years you can bet we'll be sending him to class with little sandwich bites in this one.

Tiny-breaded sandwich in the larger bag.
  I love that the larger bag really is big enough to hold the larger, fancier breads that don't usually fit in ziplock plastic bags. The bread in the above picture is from one of the tiny loaves that'd be perfect for a kid's lunch, but you'd need at least two for a grown adult!

  ReUsies come in a big variety of colors and patterns, too! Here are a few of my favorites:
