My love of natural products combined with modern technology led me to discover Bioken and their Enfanti line of hair products, and I'm so glad I did! Have you heard the name Bioken? I know I had, but since it is professional-quality product I'd never seen it stores before. (I think I remember seeing one of the cheapie shampoo brand bottles that said "Moisturizes as well as Bioken," which means it must be good!) Bioken believes in the use of nature to stimulate growth and health from the root-up, using only the finest quality natural ingredients to improve the quality of your scalp, skin, and hair.
I recently had the opportunity to try a selection of Bioken's fabulous products, and I am completely impressed! I received:
- Enfanti Frizz Free Shampoo
- Enfanti Conditioner
- Pequi Body Lotion
- Pequi Body Oil
I love the feeling of fresh-washed hair. The scent that wafts around when you shake your head, the unbeatable squeaky clean feeling on your scalp, there's really no comparing it to anything else. Unfortunately, this is a little harder to come by with dreadlocks. Nowadays I only really wash-wash my hair about once a week (don't worry, it doesn't get funky!), which makes wash-time that much more enjoyable. I have to be careful which products I use to clean my hair, as regular store-bought shampoos and conditioners can leave buildup in the dreads and cause problems. I've been using Bioken's Enfanti Frizz-Free Shampoo for a few weeks now, and it's been a very pleasant experience!
The Frizz Free Shampoo has a fresh, invigorating smell that wakes up my senses when I step into the shower in the morning, it's wonderful! It lathers easily without too much product, rinses clean, and leaves my hair feeling fresh down to the roots. With dreadlocks, your hair is always full of frizzies and flyaways, so any help in taming them is welcome. Since conditioning is counterproductive for dreads, I let Mark test out the Enfanti Conditioner. He's a guy, so in all honesty he'll use just about anything to clean/condition his hair, but I can definitely attest to this conditioner's ability to make hair irresistibly touchable! It also provides thermal and UV protection, which is handy when working outside or using a blow dryer or heat styling.
My absolute favorite of everything I have tried thus far has been the Bioken Pequi body line. This line features skin products containing Pequi, a Brazilian fruit that contains an abundance of essential fatty acids, Vitamins A & E, and antioxidants. The Pequi Body Oil is a dry oil (ie- won't leave you feeling greased-up like Arnold on Muscle Beach) and is most helpful after stepping out of the shower. Although washing your skin is great, it has a tendency to rob your skin of natural oils and moisture. The Pequi body oil helps replenish necessary moisture immediately after a shower without clogging pores, leaving your skin super hydrated and soft. This product also contains olive oil and aloe leaf juice, what a great combo! This body oil can help retexturize skin for more even skin tone, as well as relax the body! I'm in love with this one...I use it after every shower and the scent makes me feel like I'm in fruit heaven.
The Pequi Body Lotion is a non-greasy lotion made from the same fruit. I really can't describe it any better than this, it's great!
This light, non-greasy lotion uses various micro-hydrating technologies to deliver moisturizing properties into the skin. Microscopic molecules enter skin pores, absorbing quickly to allow hydrating properties to penetrate deep. It normalizes skin’s moisturizing factors, prevents loss of moisture and provides all day moisturizing to soften and silken skin.
I love using this lotion on my legs, where I have a rather large tattoo that tends to get dry and look ashy on my super-white skin. The lotion really does penetrate right down to the ink to brighten colors and make my legs (and tat) look brand new! It's also especially helpful on problematic dry areas, such as heels and elbows. Again, the scent is amazing!
Have you fallen in love with Bioken yet? Did you know that they also have a whole line of specialty products for hair and scalp treatments? Everyone uses shampoo, and you can't go wrong with stocking stuffers. Go check 'em out!
