Today, Nov.4th, Disney's "Planes: Fire and Rescue" releases on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD, and my munchkin and I couldn't be more excited!  I've been a fan of Disney's vehicular franchise ever since "Cars" debuted in 2006, so when the first "Planes" came out it was a must-see. The second installment, "Planes: Fire and Rescue" was no different!

Sequels usually get the short end of the stick as it's hard to live up to the original film, though we really feel that this one was on-par. The action sequences and panoramic scenery of Piston Peak Park are gorgeously crafted, and Blu-Ray really does bring out the most sharp images I've ever seen in a film, and this one is no exception.

After becoming a famous racer, Dusty Crophopper is dealt a blow when he encounters trouble with his gear box, meaning that he cannot push his engine to it's limits. To learn a new skill he joins forces with an elite team of firefighting planes, helicopters and rescue vehicles, who help teach him what it's like to be a true hero. I greatly appreciate that this film trades in the underdog-success story for a moral encouraging kids to make lemonade when life hands you lemons.

Even though my little one came into the picture 5 years after "Cars," it is definitely his all-time favorite movie to this day. After receiving our copy of "Planes: Fire and Rescue," it is clear to me that this too will be making it's rounds in his movie-watching schedule (and that's something I'm okay with!)
